20 X 24 In 1913 Robert Delaunay Displayed One Of The Two Versions He Had Created Titled Woman With A Parasol (Also Known As Femme Lombrelle Ou La Parisienne And Woman With An Umbrella). The Painting Combined Elements Of Cubism And The Superimposition Of Planes Through The Use Of Color. This Piece Was Created During The Official Rift Delaunay Created Between His Work And The Work Of Other Cubists. Delaunay Remained On This Path Of Bright Colors While Others Began To Focus More On A Monochromatic Palette. The Woman Immortalized In This Piece Is Rumored To Be Sonia The Artists Wife Though No One Knows For Sure. One-Piece Became Known As The Gretta Garbo Version Because 1930S Hollywood Icon Gretta Garbo Began Collecting Art After She Retired In The 1940S. Garbo Adored Delaunays Work And Purchased The Piece For What Was A Staggering Amount At The Time 30000 Usd. The Piece Hung In The Same Spot Of Garbos Manhattan Apartment For 53 Years. Garbos Grandniece Said That This Piece Was Her Favorite Of Her Collection Recalling Her Often Sitting With Her Glass Of Scotch And Her Cigarette Staring At The Painting For Hours. We Have Recreated The Version Which Was A Part Of The Geta Garbo Collection. This Version Sold A Christies In May Of 2017 For 3607500 Usd. We Have Used The Same Bright Colors That Drew Critics Away From The Cubism Movement And The Same Lines That Created The Superimposition Planes Effect. Frame Description Black Matte Frame
