The Farm, Morning Was Painted In 1893. Henri-Edmond Cross Was A Pillar Of The Neo-Impressionism Movement. Cross And Matisse Maintained A Close Relationship In Which They Influenced Each Other. This Painting, Given To Matisse As A Gift, Part Of A Collection That Cross Had Painted In Observation Of Different Times Of The Day. Cross Was Studying The Effect Of The Light On Colors, Colder In The Morning, Warmer In The Evening. The Farm In The Evening Was Gifted To Signac, Another Closer Friend Of Cross. The Original Is Currently In The Musee Des Beaux-Arts Nancy.
