Created In 1896, Alphonse Mucha’S Biscuits Lefevre Utile Played A Prominent Role In The Establishment Of Early 20Th Art Nouveau, A Movement That Attempted To Synthesize The Qualities Of Decorative Art And Practical Design. The Panel Was Commissioned For The French Biscuit Company, Lefevre Utile, And Features A Goddess-Like Woman Surrounded By Botanicals, Precious Gems, And Billowing, Fine Fabrics Holding A Tray Of Cookies. The Original Print Was Created With The Lithography Technique; Wherein The Image Is First Drawn On To A Printing Plate And Affixed To A Canvas Through A Chemical Reaction To Create The Delicate Styling Mucha Imbues In His Work. With The End Of The 19Th Century, The West Saw The Cultural Shift Influenced By The Chicago World’S Fair And Revival Of Neoclassism In Architecture, Advertising, And Especially Illustration. Coinciding With These New Aesthetics, Mucha’S Posters Took Off In Paris During This Time, Launching His Career Into New Recognition And Changing The World Of Advertising Forever.
