20 X 24 After Lunch (Apres Dejeuner) By Amelie Beaury-Saurel Was Created In 1899. At First Glance The Viewer Almost Feels Like They Are Looking At An Old Photograph It Doesnt Look Anything Like A Hand-Crated Image. Beaury-Saurel Did Not Hold Back Any Of Her Spiracular Talents When Rendering This Image. The Woman In This Piece Is Enjoying A Cigarette After A Meal. This Piece Was Created In A Time When Women Did Not Dare Partake In Such Behaviors In Public Making This Image Somewhat Scandalous At The Time. Near Her Elbow A Tea Cup And Saucer To Help Cleanse Her Pallet Post Meal. Her Arm Other Arm Is Positioned On Her Hip As Though She Is Trying To Comfort Herself Also Holding A Brightly Colored Display Of Flowers. The Flowers Are Located Almost Near The Center Of The Canvas Creating An Extra Layer Of Interest Being The Only Thing In The Canvas At Is Not Black And White. Even Though The Woman Is Rendered In Black And White She Does Not Fade Into The Background Of The Flowers. The View Is Equally Drawn To Her Face And Expression. The Original Was Done With Pastel White Chalk And Charcoal On Paper And Is Currently Part Of The Muse Des Augustins Collection. Or Reproduction Done With Oil-On-Canvas Ready To Adorn Your Space.
