The First Piece Outpost Duty Featured His Friends Theodor Korner, Karl Friedrich Friesen, And Heinrich Hartmann Who Lost Their Lives During The War Of Liberation. The Second, The Wreath Maker, Commemorates The Loss Of These Close Friends. The Canvas Depicts A Young Girl, Dressed Like A Bride, Sitting In A Forest On A Moss-Covered Stone. The Trees Are Oak, Which Was A Symbol Of Heroism During The 18Th Century. The Names Of The Fallen Soldiers Are Carved In The Bark. Two Of The Three Wreaths Are Complete And The Leaves Are Ready For The Third. Even Though The Scene Is Outdoors, The View Still Gets A Sense Of An Interior-Like Atmosphere, Something That Kesting Was Known For. The Forest Stands As A Temple, With The Mourner Winding Wreaths To Pay Tribute To The Heroes Of Her Country. Today, The Original Is Part Of The Alte Nationalgalerie.
