Artist: Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec
Type: Hand Painted Oil Reproduction
Painting Size: Classic 20″ X 24″
Orientation: Vertical
Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec Suffered Greatly During His Life, Both Physically And Socially. A Victim Of A Variety Of Bodily Maladies, He Became Alienated From The Middle And Upper Class Lifestyles Of Turn-Of-The-Century Parisians. Choosing Instead To Spend His Time Among The Seedy Elements Of Montmartre, He Made Lots Of Images Of Risqua© Dancers, Poor Individuals, And Social Outcasts In General. This Image Was Painted In Oil On Cardboard And Initially Only About One-Third Of Its Final Size. He Added Two More Pieces Of Cardboard, One On The Left And One On The Bottom, To More Fully Depict The Crowded Setting. Despite The Composition Being Full Of People, Each Reflects A Distance And Isolation That The Artist Himself Certainly Felt. Still, It Was A Lively Dance Hall Or Night Club That Regularly Showed One Of The City’S Most Popular Female Dancers, “La Galette”. Our Handmade Reproduction Of This Oil Painting Faithfully Recreates The Scene’S Setting And The Artist’S Mindset For All To Enjoy.
