The Yellow Room By Frederick Carl Frieseke Painted In 1910 Carefully Blends Multiple Influences. Frieseke Worked With Fellow American James Mcneill Whistler, Who Had A Passion For Decoration And Color Arrangements, As Well As Monet’S Use Of Color And Sunlight. By Choosing To Paint Indoor Scenes Rich With Detail And A Model Costumed In Japanese-Inspired Clothing We Can Most Defiantly Feel The Pull Of Whistler’S Influence On Frieseke. The Room Being Depicted In Yellow Gives The Viewer A Sense Of Sunlight Even Though We Can See A Night Sky From The Window Off To The Right. Perhaps This Is Frieseke’S Subtle Nod To Monet, As This Was Also The Color Combination That Monet Had Used For His Home. Today The Original Is Part Of The Museum Of Fine Arts In Boston But We Have Recreated The Lively Lemon Yellow Piece With The Same Oil On Canvas Detail.
